Young Family
Advent Wreath Prayer
At Faith Formation in December, the young people gathered around the Advent wreaths in their rooms to pray this simple prayer, which is reflects our Jewish heritage:
Blessed are you, O Lord our God, king of the universe.
You sent your Son to be the Light of the world and to
spread his light of love to all.
As we light the candles of this wreath
May its growing brightness remind us of the approaching
nearness of your Son So that the day of His coming may find us prepared and
filled with joy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Hanukkah
The older youth watched a short animated video that told the biblical story of the restoration of the Temple, which explains why the Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah. Click here to view it.
You can find out lots of additional fun information about Hanukkah and the Jewish people here.
Dreidel Game
All of the children in grades K-6 learned to play the dreidel game and received a dreidel (spinning top) at Faith Formation. You can play at home too! Find directions here.
Liturgical Year
Remember to keep track of our Church's liturgical year using the calendar you took home from Mass the First Sunday of Advent. Students in grade K-4 received a liturgical year coloring page at Faith Formation in December. Put that on the fridge or somewhere else you will see it, and remind your child to fill the names and colors of each season as it comes up!
