Young Family
November is the month of All Saints and Souls. One of the most beautiful prayers of the Catholic Church is the Litany of the Saints. Traditional versions of the Litany of the Saints can be very long, but here is a relatively short version that families can use as part of their prayer. It contains images of saints new and old, and is easy to sing along to as part of family prayer:
Thanksgiving Day Prayer
Lord, we thank you
for the goodness of our people
and for the spirit of justice
that fills this nation.
We thank you for the beauty and fullness of the
land and the challenge of the cities.
We thank you for our work and our rest,
for one another, and for our homes.
We thank you, Lord:
accept our thanksgiving on this day.
We pray and give thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.
R: Amen.

On most of the calendar squares, if you hover your cursor over the saint’s name, it will take you to a link with more information and resources.
Liturgical Year
Here is a great website to explore for resources related to the Sunday readings. The family section also provides seasonal resources for families – puzzles, crafts, etc. to do together.
Click on “Seasonal Resources” in the middle of the column on the left.

Tour churches!
Walk around our church and look at the various furnishing and holy sites. Which are unique to a Catholic church? Which might you find in another Christian church? Visit other Catholic churches to see how some of their furnishings look different, and might be in different places. Despite these potential differences, every Catholic church contains certain items. Visit churches of other Christian denominations. Talk about what is the same/similar to what you find in a Catholic church. What is different? What is missing?
Be Grateful!
There are times and stages in life when we find it easier or more difficult to be grateful. Studies show that people of all ages who live with an attitude of gratitude are healthier and happier in every way. As Thanksgiving approaches, let us lead our families to a deeper sense of gratitude for God’s gifts. This article gives some good idea for parents to do just that.
